This website contains information that will help any individual who is seeking to better themselves as a bassoonist. In each section you will find information about that specific area of the bassoon. Pictures are provided for additional support of the information. The site is setup in sequential order with buttons at the bottom of each page to take you to the next. About the Author

Kevin Kurtz is the assistant band director at Jefferson High School (est. 2021) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Music Education (2017).
Kevin began his teaching career in his hometown of Parkston, SD where he taught 4-12 instrumental music from ‘17-‘20. He then moved to Sioux Falls to be a long-term substitute teacher, working with numerous elementary, middle school and high school bands. Outside of the classroom, Kevin has used his past experience as a DCI performer and instructor to educate numerous marching bands and help found two of the first indoor drumlines in South Dakota. He has worked with the Summer Youth Band in Sioux Falls and is currently on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit drumline (SuFuDu) and is a Co-Artistic Director of the organization as well. When Kevin is not in front of a music ensemble, you can find him spending time with his fiancé, family, friends and his two dogs, Stormy and Sage. |
