Step by Step Assembly

Picture
The first thing you need to do is pick up the trumpet by the valves with your left hand. Then grab the mouthpiece with your left hand.

Picture
Once you have those parts in hand, take the trumpet mouthpiece, lay the tip of the shank on the inside of lead pipe, then slide the mouthpiece in until it cannot slide any farther.

If you push the mouthpiece into the lead pipe with too much force you run the risk of both getting your mouthpiece stuck and damaging the lead pipe.

With the mouthpiece correctly attached to the trumpet, we can move on to either posture without the trumpet and/or how to correctly holding the trumpet.
